Acanthite
specimen number:
1041049
location:
Uchucchacua Mine, Oyon Province, Lima Department, Peru
description: Superb large grouping for this species/locality. Well formed, but then in some areas quite smooth, crystals of acanthite forming a 5.0 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm cluster. Complete all around and in excellent condition. From a find at this mine in 2003, the smooth "melted" faces are due to these areas of the specimen cementing a calcite breccia.
Size: 5.0 x 2.5 x 2.0 cm (miniature)
Collection: Lloyd Tate
