Tinnsjovegen in Notodden, Telemark, Norway, is associated with historic mining and mineral prospecting regions in southern Norway, with mineralized pegmatites and veins in the surrounding Telemark area having been explored and worked primarily from the late 19th through the mid-20th century as local mining and industrial development expanded. Geologically, this region is part of the Fennoscandian Shield, characterized by ancient Proterozoic metamorphic and igneous rocks, including complex granitic pegmatites that host diverse mineral assemblages. Among these minerals is adularia, a low-temperature hydrothermal variety of potassium feldspar. Adularia typically forms in Alpine-type fissures and hydrothermal veins as translucent to transparent, rhombohedral or pseudo-cubic crystals, often precipitating from hot aqueous solutions circulating through fractured crystalline basement rocks.
