description: This is a superb example for this noted locality with a glassy mostly freestanding reddish black sharply formed crystal of almandine measuring 1.0 cm across set up nicely from a 4.8 x 3.8 x 3.8 cm rhyolite matrix. This sits up perfectly for display by itself and is in excellent condition. At one time these were often labeled spessartine. They have since been shown to be almandine. Shipping weight: 0.13 pounds.
