A very large sharp lustrous deep red to almost black crystal of almandine measuring 1.3 cm across set nicely in this open pocket lined with crystallized quartz in a rhyolite matrix. This crystal is exceptionally large in fine for this locality. In great condition. In the past of these were labeled as spessartine.
