Ancylite-Ce with Elpidite

specimen number:
1052231

location:
Narssarssuk, Igaliku, Kujalleq, Greenland

description:
A historic example from the type locality featuring micro crystals of Ancylite-Ce intimately associated with elpidite on matrix. The specimen is accompanied by an antique label dating to the early 20th century, as shown at the end of the video, adding strong historical provenance and collector appeal. The Narssarssuk pegmatite on the Narsaarsuk Plateau near Igaliku in southern Greenland is a classic alkaline pegmatite locality and the type locality for ancylite-(Ce), meaning this is the original place where the species was first described and defined in mineralogy, alongside other rare minerals found in evolved nepheline syenite pegmatites. Specimens from this complex are highly regarded for their rarity and significance in rare earth carbonate and silicate mineralogy.
