Antigorite is a member of the serpentine group of minerals and typically forms in metamorphic rocks that have undergone alteration of ultramafic material such as peridotite. Antigorite is stable at higher temperatures than other serpentine minerals and is common in regions of regional metamorphism such as mountain belts.
