description: An outstanding example for the species with a brownish somewhat bronze colored prismatic terminated crystal of astrophyllite measuring 6.5 cm in length set nicely upon a quartz matrix. The crystal is freestanding and undamaged, however it is repaired. The repair does not bother me as this is quite rare and to get something like this perfect and unrepaired would be almost impossible. The piece sits perfectly by itself for display and measures 7.0 x 5.5 x 4.0 cm. Collected by noted Colorado collector Clarence Coil. Normally from this locality the species, while not uncommon, exists says intergrown crystals frozen in matrix. Rarely ever is it seen in freestanding crystals such as this. Shipping weight: 0.96 pounds.
