Axinite-Mn with Epidote, Quartz, Andradite-Grossular

specimen number:
8036256

location:
Cullhuay, Huaros, Canta, Lima Dept., Peru

description:
Spectacular museum sized combination piece with lustrous brown sharp crystals of axinite to 2.0 cm in size across the top of this matrix of large cinnamon colored crystals of garnet measuring to 7.0 cm. Minor epidote in needlelike crystals of quartz scattered throughout, this piece I think is in exceptional condition considering the number of small crystals present in the overall size of the piece. Quite aesthetic and outstanding for the species.
