Very choice for this Missouri locality, glassy gemmy colorless crystals of barite to almost 2.0 cm in size on matrix. Collected by Hal Pryor and Glenn Williams in October, 1995. In great condition.

The Lamb Mine, located near Gravois Mills in Morgan County within the Central Missouri Barite District, operated intermittently as a small-scale prospect and mine focusing on barium sulfate extraction, typical of regional historical workings that saw active periods from the late 19th century through mid-20th century closures. Geologically, the deposit sits within Paleozoic carbonate strata—specifically Ordovician-age dolomites where mineralizing fluids filled solution-collapse structures, sinkholes, and circle deposits. During the 1990s, collectors working the site recovered exceptional mineral specimens characterized by glassy, highly transparent, and gemmy tabular barite crystals, often featuring complex terminations and delicate colorless habits resting on porous matrix.
