Beautiful gemmy thin bladed crystals of glassy barite coming off of a dolomite crystal matrix. Brightly fluorescent, this is in great condition. Crystallized completely all around. Good aesthetic example for one of these.

The Cerro Warihuyn locality, situated near Miraflores in the Huamalies Province of the Huanuco Department in Peru, is a modern classic mineral occurrence with a history driven by local artisanal specimen mining. Geologically, the area is set within the high-altitude central Peruvian Andes, where small hydrothermal and polymetallic vein systems cut through carbonate strata. Mineralizing fluids circulating within open cavity spaces and vugs deposited various carbonate and sulfide phases. The site has achieved international renown among mineral collectors for producing stunning, highly transparent to translucent, tabular barite crystals ranging from honey-yellow to smoky gray-blue, typically perched on a contrasting matrix of pink to cream dolomite.
