Mining in this region of Romania has been proven to date back until the 14th century. The area is known for its fine specimens of both barite and stibnite, this is a superb combination specimen with metallic crystals of stibnite measuring to 2.5 cm in height coming off of a cluster of lustrous bladed barite crystals. This is in super condition. The mines in this area last operated in 2008 and currently the adits are sealed and the water pumps are turned off.
