The Yaogangxian Mine, located in Yizhang County near Chenzhou in southeastern Hunan Province, China, has a mining history dating back to its official discovery and the start of production in 1914. Geologically, the deposit is situated within the Nanling metallogenic belt and consists primarily of vein-type ore bodies hosted in sedimentary strata that were intruded by Mesozoic granitic plutons, creating a rich hydrothermal environment. Mineralogically, the mine is world-famous for producing exceptional specimens of tungsten-bearing minerals like ferberite and scheelite, alongside stunning fluorite, quartz, arsenopyrite, and rare sulfides, making it one of the premier mineral specimen localities in the world.
