The Nisai brucite locality, situated within the Killa Saifullah District of Balochistan, Pakistan, is a surface quarrying area utilized for the extraction of magnesium hydroxide. Geologically, the deposit is hosted within the transition zone of the Cretaceous-aged Muslim Bagh ophiolite complex, which represents a fragment of oceanic lithosphere obducted during the tectonic collision between the Indian and Eurasian plates. The brucite formed through the advanced hydrothermal serpentinization and metasomatic alteration of ultramafic peridotite and dunite rocks, precipitating as localized veins, lenses, and botryoidal aggregates along structural fractures. Extraction at the site is conducted through small-scale, open-pit artisanal quarrying operations where the mineralized masses are manually dug and sorted from shallow workings without heavy mechanization. While broader regional chromite mining in the ophiolite belt dates back to 1903, the specific commercial and independent excavation of these yellow and green brucite bodies began in the late 1990s and has remained continuously active through recent years to supply global mineral collectors and industrial applications.
