Calcite
specimen number:
1831017
location:
Egremont, Cumbria, England, UK
description:
Colorless to slightly pinkish translucent scalenohedral crystals of calcite measuring to almost 2.0 cm in size across the top of a hematite matrix. Very minimal cleaving present, this still in good condition for such an old timer. Note that the previous labels that come with the specimen give the locality in Scotland for this, I'm quite sure this is from the iron mines of England.
