A golden yellow twinned lustrous translucent crystal grouping of scalenohedral calcite on matrix. The quality is excellent for this locality and species. Most of these collected in the 1960s were dipped in acid to bring out luster, this one has not been touched and is completely natural. In excellent condition. The crystals exhibit twinning.

The Picher Field in northeastern Oklahoma was part of the Tri State Mining District, which also included parts of Kansas and Missouri. Mining in the Picher area began in the early 20th century and focused on lead and zinc ores found in limestone and dolomite. Large underground mines produced sphalerite and galena that supplied metal for industry. The district became one of the most important lead and zinc producing regions in the United States before mining declined during the mid 20th century.
