The Tchetroka deposit, situated in the Laki ore field of the Central Rhodope Mountains within the Plovdiv region of Bulgaria, is part of a major metallogenic province whose modern industrial exploration and intensive underground mining developed primarily during the mid-to-late 20th century, specifically scaling up from the 1950s onward. Geologically, the deposit is associated with the volcanic and tectonic framework of the Borovitsa caldera, where mineralized hydrothermal structures and veins are localized along regional ring faults and fault zones. The ore bodies consist predominantly of hydrothermal vein and metasomatic replacement deposits hosted in high-grade metamorphic basement rocks and marbles, carrying significant concentrations of base metal sulfides such as galena and sphalerite formed during Oligocene magmatic-hydrothermal activity.
