Calcite
specimen number:
9084369
location:
Bautsch Mine, Galena, Jo Daviess Co., Illinois, USA
description:
Very neat and interesting old-time specimen showing colorless scalenohedral crystals of calcite to 1.0 cm in size over a previous pinkish crystallized calcite matrix measuring 10.0 x 8.5 x 6.0 cm in size. Very light micro-chipping present, still in very good condition. Previous label quite interesting giving a good history of the piece and postulating that rare earth elements may be the cause for the coloration in the first-generation of calcite. Shipping weight: 0.94 pounds. Ex Charles Noll collection.
Size: 10.0 x 8.5 x 6.0 cm (cabinet)
Collection: Charles Noll
