Eide, located in Hustadvika, More og Romsdal, Norway, has a documented history centered around its stone quarrying and agricultural processing industries that began in 1904 when commercial marble extraction started in the Visnes area. While local stone operations and active quarries continue to operate in the region today, the former administrative municipality of Eide existed from 1897 until its dissolution at the end of 2019 before merging into Hustadvika. Geologically, the area is renowned for extensive metamorphic carbonate deposits, containing massive reserves of high-purity limestone and marble formed during ancient regional tectonic events. The primary mineral component of these deposits is calcite, which occurs widely as crystalline marble and coarsely grained carbonate rock aggregates shaped by deep-seated pressure and thermal metamorphism.
