A cluster of rhombohedral colorless translucent calcite crystals, this hosting crystals of epidote, actinolite, and chlorite. This is complete all around with no points of attachment and in great condition. Neat specimen for this famous Austrian locality. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video and certainly dates to the early 20th century, if not earlier.

Knappenwand in Austria is a classic alpine mineral locality located in the Hohe Tauern region, known since at least the 19th century for its remarkable mineral specimens. The geology consists of high grade metamorphic rocks, particularly schists and gneisses, that have been affected by alpine metamorphism and later hydrothermal activity. These conditions created open fissures where minerals could crystallize slowly under stable conditions.
