Calcite with Chalcopyrite
specimen number:
1222027
location:
south orebody, Sweetwater mine, Viburnum Trend, Reynolds Co., Missouri, USA
description:
This large breccia matrix is mostly covered by pale yellow lustrous gemmy crystals of calcite measuring to 4.0 cm in size, though most crystals average around 1.0 cm. There are very few cleaved crystals, I think it impossible to get the piece like this with so many crystals present to be absolutely perfect. In my opinion, this is in very good condition. These are fluorescent red under longwave ultraviolet light. Small colorless crystals of dolomite and tiny golden crystals of chalcopyrite are scattered throughout.
Size: 32.0 x 24.0 x 6.0 cm (large-cabinet)
