Colorless crystals of calcite averaging 1.0 cm in size covering a fluorite matrix. Minimal cleaving present, still quite nice.

Weardale, located in County Durham, England, is a historic mining district with metal extraction dating back to Roman times and intensive commercial lead and fluorite mining peaking during the 18th and 19th centuries. Geologically, the area is situated within the Alston Block of the Northern Pennines, where Carboniferous limestone strata are cut by hydrothermal vein systems associated with the underlying Weardale Granite. Mineralogically, the district is world-famous for its exceptional fluorite specimens, often featuring intense daylight fluorescence, and vibrant green, purple, or blue color zoning, alongside associated quartz, siderite, calcite and galena.
