Calcite with Laumontite (stabalized)
specimen number:
7991946
location:
Kandivili, Mumbia, Maharashtra, India
description:
Beautiful golden glassy and gemmy crystals of calcite to 4.5 cm in size across the top of this matrix with white prismatic crystals of laumontite. This is a very unusual crystal habit for the species from this area. The crystals are brightly fluorescent. This has been stabilized to preserve the laumontite crystals which are highly water-soluble. Collected in 1995, previous label from the collection of noted German author and collector Berthold Ottens. His label notes on the back as to the rarity of this crystal habit from the locality.
Size: 15.0 x 10.0 x 3.0 cm (large-cabinet)
