Calcite with Sphalerite
specimen number:
2022743
location:
Elmwood Mine, Smith Co., Tennessee, USA
description: A spectacular large museum sized grouping of extremely glassy and partly transparent gemmy deep amber colored scalenohedral calcite crystals set on a limestone breccia matrix with minor sphalerite. The largest crystal measures to 16.0 cm in height. This sits perfectly by itself for display and shows well all around. This is not absolutely perfect, most large groupings of these calcite specimens from Elmwood are not, however I think this is in very fine condition. The specimen measures 26.0 x 21.0 x 21.0 cm in size overall. The intense deep color with great luster makes for a beautiful and aesthetic piece. Ex Chris & Agatha Galas collection.
Size: 26.0 x 21.0 x 21.0 cm (large-cabinet)
