Cassiterite with Microcline, Quartz
specimen number:
1801074
location:
Wheal Garth, Paul, Cornwall, England, UK
description:
Very interesting replacement specimen of what is known locally as Dog Tooth Tin. A vein section of crystalline microcline is being replaced by black cassiterite. Minor quartz present as well. The replacements are very sharp and it is obvious that they start from the outside of the crystal structure working in, so when partially replaced the outline of the crystal is obvious. The specimen is been slabbed and polished to show this wonderfully. Measures 9.5 x 5.0 x 4.0 cm. Shipping weight: 0.76 pounds. Ex Ed Raines collection.
Size: 9.5 x 5.0 x 4.0 cm (cabinet)
