description: Celestine from the Holloway Quarry near Newport in Monroe County, Michigan occurs in cavities within Silurian age limestone that is quarried for aggregate and construction stone. During quarry operations collectors have found blue celestine crystals lining vugs in the rock. The mineral formed from mineral rich groundwater that circulated through the limestone after the rock was deposited.
A large lustrous translucent superb crystal of Celestine with little attached matrix. Small calcite crystals are present. The size of this crystal is very impressive for the species.
