The Route 13 roadcut, situated near Chittenango Falls in Fenner Township, Madison County, New York, is a notable roadside geological exposure known for its distinctive celestine and calcite crystal formations. Geologically, the roadcut exposes sedimentary layers of the Early Devonian Helderberg Group, consisting primarily of fine-grained, light gray limestone and dolomitic limestone. Within these strata, irregular geodic cavities and open structural seams allowed strontium-bearing fluids to precipitate translucent, light blue to ice-blue celestine prisms alongside clusters of scalenohedral or dogtooth calcite crystals. The best collecting period was in the 1960s during road construction.
