Outstanding large cabinet example of this American classic with light blue for tabular crystals of Celestine to 2.5 cm in size mostly covering the top of matrix. Some damage present, considering the size of this piece and the number of crystals present, I think this in very good condition.

The Stoneco Quarry, located in Lime City, Wood County, Ohio, is a premier Midwestern locality renowned for its aesthetic celestine specimens. Geologically, the mineralization is hosted within the Silurian-aged Lockport Dolomite, where strontium-rich fluids precipitated celestine in vugs and solution cavities alongside minerals like calcite, fluorite, and sphalerite. The celestine typically occurs as sharp, tabular crystals, often exhibiting a delicate sky-blue color and a characteristic translucent to opaque, milky luster. Historically, the site has been an active source of crushed stone and aggregate for decades, with the most prolific mineral discoveries occurring from the 1960s through the early 2000s under the management of the Stoneco company. While the quarry has changed ownership over time and access for mineral collectors is now strictly limited due to safety and liability regulations, the locality remains famous for producing what are considered by some as the most recognizable examples of the species from the United States.
