Celestine with Strontianite

specimen number:
8641087

location:
Hwy 1 & 183, Austin, Texas, USA

description:
Bluish translucent partial crystal but mostly massive Celestine with minor strontianite. Neat locality example collected in the late 1980s. A previous note with the specimen mentions that this was collected during construction of a major highway interchange. The specimen is apparently in the process of being reabsorbed or altering to strontianite. The site is now permanently buried under concrete, steel, and grass.
