description: The Mercur Mine, situated within the historic mining district of Bad Ems in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany, is part of an ancient mineralized area with roots extending back centuries, experiencing major industrial expansion during the nineteenth century. Geologically, the district is characterized by complex hydrothermal vein systems hosted within Paleozoic shales, quartzites, and greywackes, where mineral-rich solutions deposited substantial concentrations of base metals. Mineralogically, the Mercur Mine achieved legendary status among European localities for producing some of the world-class, magnificent specimens of pyromorphite, renowned for their distinctive olive-green, resinous, barrel-shaped, or curved hexagonal crystal aggregates.
Twinned crystals of cerussite averaging 0.5 cm in size rich across the front of matrix. Some damage present, this still very nice for this classic antique material. The specimen comes with an antique label as shown at the end of the video and dates to the very early 20th century.
