The now closed classic mine at Tsumeb, Namibia is known for having produced some of the world's finest known cerussite specimens. Some of the most sought after examples are the ones showing reticulated twinning. The example shown here is superb. The specimen consists of a 8.5 x 7.5 x 5.5 cm grouping of sparkling colorless sharply formed reticulated twinned cerussite crystals with little attached matrix as seen. The specimen shows all around. Like almost all of these, there is tiny micro-chipping present on some of the crystal edges, due to the extreme delicate nature of the species. Overall I think this in wonderful condition for the species. The piece dates back to the early 1960's and was originally acquired through noted Namibian dealer Sid Pieters. Ref: Gebhard, G.
