The Browns deposit, located within the historic Rum Jungle Mineral Field in the Northern Territory of Australia, was initially worked for copper in the early twentieth century before gaining attention as a major polymetallic resource during subsequent regional exploration. Geologically, the deposit is situated within the Paleoproterozoic Pine Creek Orogen, where sediment-hosted base metal mineralization is primarily hosted within black carbonaceous pelites of the Whites Formation, lying adjacent to Archean granitic basement domes. Mineralogically, it is recognized as a complex, sediment-rich deposit containing significant concentrations of lead, zinc, copper, cobalt, nickel, and silver, distinguishing it from neighboring uranium-dominant deposits through its diverse sulfide assemblages.
