Cerussite with Pyromorphite
specimen number:
8101073
location:
Granby, Tri-State District, Newton Co., Missouri, USA
description:
The top of this 4.5 x 3.5 x 1.0 cm breccia matrix is mostly coated with green micro crystalline pyromorphite and overlain with colorless translucent crystals of cerussite to 0.3 cm in size. In very good condition. Previous label from the University of Arizona gives the locality is the Lone Elm Mine. I am skeptical of this as there had been a smelter at Lone Elm, where I believe a lot of specimens exchanged hands. After this they were given the location is coming from here. The specimen here in question I believe came from Granby. Very fine condition and certainly 19 century. Shipping weight: 0.07 pounds.
Size: 4.5 x 3.5 x 1.0 cm (miniature)
Collection: Dan & Diana Weinrich
