The Itauz mine, situated within the Zhelandy ore field of the broader Dzhezkazgan region in the Karaganda Region of Kazakhstan, began modern industrial development and quarry operations around 1998 and remains active today as part of the major copper-producing operations managed by Kazakhmys.
