Creedite (OTH-0022)
specimen number:
9273253
location:
Navidad Mine, Rodeo, Durango, Mexico
description: An aesthetic cluster of glistening orange creedite crystals. This is complete all around with no points of attachment, in excellent condition. The quality of this one is much better than most. The Navidad Mine, located in Durango, Mexico, is a fluorite-producing deposit that gained international renown in the mid-2000s primarily for its remarkable mineral specimens. Geologically, the deposit features hydrothermal fluorite mineralization hosted within regional volcanic and sedimentary rock sequences, where fluorine-bearing solutions interacted with local host rocks and secondary fluids. This unique chemical environment facilitated the crystallization of rare minerals within cavities and vugs. The mine became particularly famous among mineral collectors for producing some of the world's finest creedite specimens, characterized by vibrant orange, prismatic crystal clusters frequently contrasting against colorful fluorite matrices.
