Cuprite

specimen number:
8661061

location:
Wheal Phoenix, Cornwall, England, UK

description:
Lustrous sharp deep red cubic crystals of cuprite measuring to 0.4 cm in size across the top of this matrix. Very minimal chipping present, this still in very good condition. The specimen comes with a previous label from the British Museum as shown at the end of the video. This notes that at one time the specimen was part of the Royal Geological Society of Cornwall collection dating at 1957. I am assuming that this date is when the collection was acquired by the museum?
