near Mindouli, Pool, Republic of Congo
description: Glistening green crystals of dioptase rich throughout this brecciated matrix with yellow to golden crystals of mimetite. Very slight damage present, this still very nice. Mindouli, located in the Pool Department of the Republic of Congo, is a historic mining district with operations dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries under French colonial influence. Geologically, the area sits within the Niari basin, featuring sedimentary sequences where copper-rich fluids interacted with carbonate rocks. Mineralogically, the district is world-famous for its exceptional secondary copper minerals, most notably brilliant emerald-green dioptase crystals that are highly prized by collectors worldwide.
