description: Choice terminated gemmy bluish green crystal of elbaite. This is in super condition. Taquaral, a rural district in the municipality of Itinga within the Jequitinhonha Valley of Minas Gerais, Brazil, is a prominent locality in the Eastern Brazilian Pegmatite Province. Geologically, the area is characterized by complex granitic pegmatites emplaced during the Ediacaran to Cambrian periods as part of the regional Aracuai Orogeny, forming volatile- and rare-element-rich pockets within metamorphic host rocks. Mineralogically, the district is world-famous for its diverse phosphate species, lithium minerals, and exceptional gemstone crystals such as tourmaline, beryl, and quartz. Historically, commercial and artisanal mining operations, known locally as garimpos, expanded significantly across the region following the mid-twentieth century demand for strategic minerals and rare gems, evolving into an active locality for mineral collectors and scientific discovery that continues to modern times.
