Elbaite with Quartz
specimen number:
1602102
location:
Alto da Pitorra, Laranjeiras, Galileia, Minas Gerais, Brazil
description: An attractive combination specimen with a dark green brilliantly lustrous slightly translucent thick elbaite crystal terminated and measuring 5.5 cm in length set up on a crystallized quartz matrix. Most of the quartz is a light pink rose color. This is crystallized completely all around with no points of attachment. This would make a really good rose quartz specimen, the added crystal of elbaite is a real bonus. The Alto da Pittora locality, also recorded as Alto da Pitorra, situated near Laranjeiras in the Galileia municipality of the Doce Valley, Minas Gerais, Brazil, is a notable mining operation primarily worked for its exceptional pegmatite minerals.
