Ferberite-Hubnerite in Quartz
specimen number:
4111161
location:
Einstein Silver mine, Madison Co., Missouri, USA
description:
Unusual locality example for the state of Missouri, this massive quartz matrix hosting bladed crystals of ferberite almost 3.0 cm in length. This locality was shortly lived, it was a silver mine over 100 years ago. As a teenager I used to collect here and find much of this material. Today nothing seems to remain for collecting on the dumps. Geologically quite interesting deposit very unusual for the state of Missouri.
