The Yaogangxian Mine, located in Hunan Province, China, is a historic underground mining district with a long history of commercial extraction focused on tungsten and tin. Geologically, the deposit is situated within a granitic intrusive complex that cuts through older Paleozoic sedimentary rocks, primarily shales and sandstones. Mineralization is characterized by extensive quartz vein networks formed through high-temperature hydrothermal activity associated with the granite emplacement. These veins have made the mine internationally renowned among mineral collectors for producing magnificent, highly prized mineral specimens, most notably lustrous wolframite and scheelite crystals, frequently associated with quartz, fluorite, and bismuthinite.
