specimen number:

location:
Roncari Quarry, East Granby, Hartford Co., Connecticut, USA
description: The Roncari Quarry, also known as the Tilcon East Granby Quarry, is an active industrial trap-rock operation in Hartford County, Connecticut, that has been in operation for many decades. Geologically, the quarry targets the Early Jurassic-age Holyoke Basalt, part of the Hartford Basin's extensive volcanic and flood-basalt sequences. The basalt flows feature numerous gas-bubble vesicles and fault-zone breccias that have been hydrothermally altered, making the site world-renowned among mineral collectors for producing sharp datolite crystals often perched on botryoidal prehnite, alongside calcite, zeolites, and various other secondary minerals.
Colorless crystals of fluorapophyllite-K on matrix. In good condition.
