Geologically, the area is characterized by massive flood basalt flows formed by intense volcanic activity about 66 million years ago, featuring numerous gas cavities and vesicles filled by subsequent hydrothermal solutions. Mineralogically, the region is internationally renowned for producing some of the finest zeolite specimens in the world, including pristine crystals of apophyllite, stilbite, scolecite, and heulandite.
Colorless crsytals of fluorapophyllite-K covering one side of matrix. Small crystals of stilbite are present as well.
