description: The Denton Mine in Hardin County, Illinois was part of the Illinois Kentucky Fluorspar District, a major source of fluorite in the United States during the 20th century. The mine worked fluorite vein deposits hosted in limestone and produced fluorite along with minerals such as calcite, galena, and sphalerite. Underground mining operations supplied fluorspar used in steel and chemical industries. The locality is also known among mineral collectors for colorful fluorite specimens from southern Illinois.
An absolutely gorgeous deep blue color zoned cubic crystal grouping of fluorite. This is highly transparent and very attractive when backlit. In very good condition with just slight micro-damage present.
