The Xianghualing Mine, located in Linwu County of the Hunan Province in China, is a major tin-polymetallic deposit situated within the Nanling Range. Geologically, the site is a classic skarn and hydrothermal vein system formed by the intrusion of Mesozoic granites into Devonian limestone, creating a complex environment rich in beryllium, lithium, and fluorine. While the mine is an important industrial source of tin and tungsten, it is internationally famous among collectors for producing some of the world's most distinct fluorite specimens. The fluorite from this locality typically occurs as transparent to translucent green or colorless crystals, often exhibiting a modified cubic or octahedral habit with complex, stepped faces and a characteristic vitreous luster. Historically, mining activity in the region dates back centuries, but modern large-scale operations intensified in the mid-20th century. Today, Xianghualing remains a prolific producer of both industrial ores and high-quality mineral specimens, particularly the iconic "sea-foam" green fluorites that are highly sought after in the global market.
