The De'an mine, located in De'an County, Jiujiang Prefecture, Jiangxi Province, China, is an important mineral locality noted for producing fluorite specimens. Geologically, the deposit is a skarn-type and hydrothermal vein system associated with Mesozoic granitic intrusions that breached surrounding sedimentary host rocks, including limestones and shales. Hydrothermal fluids circulating through these structural zones deposited extensive mineral veins rich in fluorite, frequently accompanied by quartz, calcite, and pyrite. The mine has been operated as a large-scale industrial facility for the extraction of metallurgical and acid-grade fluorspar, with commercial mining operations expanding significantly in the late twentieth century. Production at the site peaked during the 1980s and 1990s under state management, and the mine has continued to produce industrial tonnage alongside mineral specimens into the twenty-first century.
