The Xianghuapu mine, located in the Linwu County of Hunan Province, China, is a significant hydrothermal deposit renowned for producing distinctive fluorite and calcite specimens. Geologically, the deposit is linked to late Mesozoic granitic intrusions that emplaced mineralizing fluids into surrounding Paleozoic sedimentary rocks, creating skarn-type mineralization and hydrothermal veins. The geological environment facilitated the growth of well-formed crystals within vuggy quartz-fluorite zones. Small-scale mining and artisanal prospecting have occurred in the region for several decades, but specialized specimen mining and larger commercial extraction activities became most active beginning in the early 2000s, with various localized operations continuing to produce notable mineral specimens into the 2020s.
