Fluorite
specimen number:
8011023
location:
Minerva No. 1 Mine, Cave-in-Rock Sub-District, Illinois - Kentucky Fluorspar District, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA
description: Extremely attractive sharp yellow to blue color zoned cubic fluorite crystals to 4.2 cm on edge forming an 8.5 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm cluster. In absolutely top condition, this one, I think is better than the pictures show. The color zoning is very vivid and shows well without the aid of strong lighting. The crystals are near transparent and have a good luster. Collected in October 1992. So very many fluorite specimens were collected over the years from this mining district, to find absolutely perfect ones was almost impossible. This is as good as they get damage wise. Ex Rick Russell collection.
Size: 8.5 x 5.5 x 4.5 cm (small-cabinet)
