description: The Yaogangxian Mine in Hunan Province, China is a well known tungsten mining district that has produced wolframite and other tungsten minerals from hydrothermal vein deposits hosted in granite. Mining activity in the area has taken place for many decades and has supported tungsten production for industrial use. The locality is also famous among mineral collectors for well formed crystals of minerals such as fluorite, quartz, scheelite, and topaz. Specimens from Yaogangxian are widely regarded as some of the finest examples from modern Chinese mineral localities.
Sharp cubic crystals of fluorite measuring to 1.7 cm on edge across the front of matrix. This is in good condition with just slight minimal micro-damage present.
