description: The Yaogangxian Mine in Hunan Province, China is a well known tungsten mining district that has produced wolframite and other tungsten minerals from hydrothermal vein deposits hosted in granite. Mining activity in the area has taken place for many decades and has supported tungsten production for industrial use. The locality is also famous among mineral collectors for well formed crystals of minerals such as fluorite, quartz, scheelite, and topaz. Specimens from Yaogangxian are widely regarded as some of the finest examples from modern Chinese mineral localities.
A gorgeous fluorite specimen from this locality with light green glassy gem color zoned cubic crystals of fluorite measuring to 2.8 cm on edge in a cluster with little or no matrix. This is in very good condition.
