In very good condition with just slight micro-damage present. Beautiful when backlit as seen in the photo and at the end of the video.

The Annabel Lee Mine, located in the Cave-in-Rock District of Hardin County, Illinois, is celebrated as one of the premier sources of world-class fluorite specimens. Geologically, it is a bedded-replacement deposit located within the Mississippian-aged St. Louis and Ste. Genevieve Limestones. The mineralization occurred when fluorine-rich hydrothermal fluids moved through the Spar Mountain Member, creating large, open pockets where spectacular cubic fluorite crystals could grow. These crystals are famous for their intense zoning, often appearing in vibrant shades of purple, yellow, and blue, frequently associated with barite, calcite, and sphalerite. Historically, the mine was one of the last major operations developed in the district, with sinking of the shaft beginning in 1982 and active mining commencing in 1984. It was operated by the Ozark-Mahoning Company until its closure in late 1995. Despite its relatively short operational life of just over a decade, the Annabel Lee Mine remains a legendary locality for mineral collectors due to the exceptional size, color, and clarity of the specimens recovered during its peak years.
